Hermitages

The hermitages are Oblate buildings connected to the novitiate's private well. They are used by priests, religious and Oblate guests for private retreats at DeSales Center. Each hermitage has a kitchen (refrigerator, sink, toaster oven, microwave and stovetop without oven) and full bath. Sheets, towels, dinnerware and cookware are provided. Those on retreat have access to the chapel and its spiritual library and acres of scenic woodland. Weekday Mass is often offered, please check the schedule located on the chapel door. Although hermitages can accommodate two people with one sleeping on a mattress on the floor or loft, one retreatant is recommended. Adult retreatants only please. Retreatants bring their own food and prepare their own meals. Hermitages are for quiet, religious retreats only.

Please arrive anytime after 10:30 AM. You can depart anytime. There is no checkin. Please park in the novitiate parking lot by the (red) barn and go directly to your hermitage upon arrival (numbers are on the front doors).

Suggested donation: $50 for the first night, $40 for each additional night; $180 per week (5-nights) and 25% more for a second person. Please leave the donation in the envelope provided, making donations payable to Lake Vineyard Camps.

Hermitage Availability Calendar

There are four hermitages, numbered 1-4. If fewer than four are reserved on a particular day we can most likely accommodate you. Due to the late departure time, we are unable to accommodate same day turnovers. Please email Annette for reservations. If you change your mind about coming, please let us know.
